MyFoodCoach
An embodied coach at the kitchen table.
Malnutrition is a significant and growing challenge among frail older adults, and conventional apps are often a poor fit for this population. MyFoodCoach took a different approach: Liz, an embodied digital coach designed as an extension of the dietitian.
Liz uses facial expressions, gestures and voice to interact naturally. Dietitians and patients set dietary goals together, and Liz provides daily reminders, encouragement and personalised rewards to help seniors stay on track — while dietitians gain continuous insight into meal intake and weight.
The solution was developed with participatory design techniques, with dietitians and elderly patients experiencing malnutrition actively involved in prototyping and evaluation throughout.
