Rehearsing care, safely, before it counts.

Timeline2018 — 2021
ConnectedCare’s roleConnectedCare led the platform design and co-design activities with end users.

Caring for a person with Alzheimer’s at home is demanding and often isolating. Informal caregivers frequently lack the training and confidence to handle difficult care situations, which leads to increased burden and poorer outcomes for both caregiver and patient.

At the heart of the platform is the Alzheimer Care Trainer: a personalised 3D simulation in which caregivers interact with a virtual patient exhibiting realistic behaviours, observe the consequences of their choices and gradually develop more effective strategies. Educational content deepens understanding of the disease.

The simulation is personalised to each caregiver’s situation, enabling the closest possible transfer of skills from the virtual to the real-world care context. The Alzheimer Care Trainer was subsequently made available for caregivers at large.
